World-Class Server Infrastructure

Strongate's Xserve storage-optimised mainframe architecture includes ultra-efficient PowerPC G4 processors, a super fast memory bus and a high-bandwidth I/O system. Its UNIX-based Darwin server operating system provides a complete suite of standards-based network services, and supports up-to-the-minute security and networking protocols. Strongate's network has room to grow, with the storage space to hold nearly half a terabyte (1TB = 500GB) of data, spanning four redundant hot-plug Ultra ATA/100 7200rpm drives.

Xserve's superior performance allows you ultra-fast access to all of your objects. Our Xserve running Apache web server outperforms three popular 1U servers from Dell, IBM, and Sun running Apache on Linux. Xserve is 29% faster than a Dell PowerEdge 1650, 47% faster than an IBM eServer xSeries 335 and nearly twice as fast as a Sun LX50 server. With over 1GB of PC2100 DDR SDRAM memory powering a performance cache to serve objects 24 hours per day, you won't need to worry about us slowing you down.

With remote monitoring of key hardware subsystems, including enclosure temperature, processor temperature, blower speed, hard drives (SMART data), Ethernet links, power supply and UPS systems, and enclosure security, Strongate can instantly fix software or hardware issues. Xserve is designed to ensure maximum uptime by continuously monitoring server performance and drive health. To that end, it keeps close tabs on all of the system services. If one falters or stops functioning, Xserve steps in and restarts it automatically. Strongate's scalable Xserve infrastructure meets the demands of high-bandwidth networking and storage solutions.
